SHE’S a long way from home but it appears Turia Pitt has won over the hearts of locals in Namibia after she was spotted comparing her growing baby bump with another woman.
After revealing the news that she’s expecting her first child with fiance Michael Hoskin last month, the couple decided to embark on an adventure in the African location.
It didn’t take long before Pitt, 29, lifted her top to show a woman her pregnant belly.
“Pregnant bellies... some things cross all cultural boundaries!” she wrote on Instagram today.
“Whenever I meet new people, the first thing I do is find something in common with them.
Hoskin and Pitt have been in Namibia for a few weeks after she told her 177,000 followers they were about to take part in a safari during a trip.
“As you can probably tell by our sick hats, Michael and I are about to head off on an epic safari through Namibia! We’re taking this time to just switch off and enjoy the company of each other, and I suppose, a lion or two as well,” she wrote last month.
“I’ll be mostly offline for the next two weeks but might jump on here every now and then to share a snap from our adventures. See you when we get back.”
In an interview with 60 Minutes in June, Pitt couldn’t contain her excitement and almost started the conversation with the words: “Can I just say I’m pregnant?”
Pitt, found out she was pregnant just three days before she was about to take part in a Mount Everest trek.
She was set to lead the trek from May 10 to May 28 with Interplast, which provides life-changing surgery and medical training in across the Asia-Pacific.
While the trek went ahead, she pulled out of it, saying it was too risky for her to do.
Pitt, who is 15 weeks pregnant, is expected to carry her first child without any issues as she suffered no internal injuries when 65 per cent of her body was burned when she was trapped by a bushfire during the Kimberley ultra marathon in 2011.
