The Overwatch Skins which leaked earlier were, in fact, part of the new trailer (above) released for the Games and all images and skins can be found in the gallery below.
"Our 2017 Summer Games event wouldn’t be complete without a display of athletic expertise, so we’re bringing back Lúcioball—and it’s better than ever! This futuristic spin on soccer places you in a fast-paced 3v3 match in Rio de Janiero’s beautiful Estádio das Rãs or on a brand-new pitch located in the Sydney Harbour Arena.
"Players can choose between two modes: Lúcioball and the all-new Copa Lúcioball, which offers a more competitive experience with placement matches, skill ratings tiers, leaderboards, competitive points, and more."
"Over 150 cosmetic items are available, but don’t wait too long—these Loot Boxes will be will gone before you know it."
A handful of leaked skins are currently doing the rounds on Reddit, which seems to be based on a very summery looking trailer.
It features new skins for Sombra, Junkratt, Widowmaker, McCree, Pharah and Soldier 76.
The Overwatch Summer Games 2017 is set to drop very shortly, likely between 6PM and 7PM as per the usual times Blizzard has typically released new updates to the game in the past.
To our knowledge, there have been no further leaks since the one this morning which featured Mercy as Nike the goddess of victory.
But it won't be long before we get a new trailer from the Blizzard team and official confirmation of a return for Lucioball, new skins, old skins and plenty more besides.
There are still a few more hours to go until Blizzard will likely roll out the new Overwatch Summer Games 2017 update and while we might have already been gifted our first skin via a leak on Reddit (below) fans are busy cooking up some further ideas for more new skins.
In light of the fact that the leaked skin for Mercy appears to represent Nike, goddess of victory and a prevalent icon of the real Olympic games, some fans have an idea for another Olympic themed skin for Sombra.
Sombra is already guaranteed a new skin, which was more or less confirmed by game director Jeff Kaplan on the official forums last night.
And some fans think that if Blizzard sticks to the Greek Mythology theme, Sombra could be in line for something related to Hermes.
Although as others have argued in the thread, it doesn't exactly lend itself to the idea of Summer Games quite so perfectly, regardless of the fact that the Olympics was originally a Greek festival paying tribute to the Greek gods.
Let us know in the comments if you're keen on a series of skins based on Greek Gods and who you'd like to see given the Olympic treatment along with Mercy.
Overwatch fans had last night been praising Blizzard for the way they'd managed to contain leaks ahead of the start of the Summer Games 2017, and while there had been a handful of rather obvious fakes posted online, this next one looks pretty on the money.
According to the Redditor who found the image, the picture has been taken from Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
"It says "New Hero: Doomfist Currently Online" on the left, "Limited Event: Overwatch Summer Games 2017, from August 9th to 29th" on the right."
It appears as though Mercy has been modelled on Nike, goddess of victory and a prevalent icon of the real Olympic games.
But remarkably, another Overwatch Reddit user had actually predicted something like the below on another reddit thread not so long ago, as opposed to the lifeguard idea some other fans had suggested.
"I think Nike would be a much prettier and more "legendary" skin than a lifeguard who makes $10 an hour."
Only time will tell if this turns out to be legit, and thankfully we don't have that much longer to wait.
Overwatch fans are desperate to know what sort of new skins might become available during the Summer Games.
There's even a Reddit thread that's continually growing right now based on the fact fans are so surprised that there hasn't been the usual number of leaks normally seen with an Overwatch event.
Despite this, we do know at least one new skin coming to the game, as confirmed by game director Jeff Kaplan.
"Imma lose my !@#$ if she doesn't get a skin. She has been in 5 events come tomorrow and if she doesn't get a skin she will have one okay purple one. If she doesn't get one this event she better get 2 legendarys and be a main character for the event. Sorry Sombra main here"
"'Been here all along.' You can say that tomorrow after looking at the hero gallery."
Which might not be clear cut confirmation, but it's as good as we'll get to Blizzard revealing that Sombra fans will get a new Skin as part of the Summer Games 2017 event.
