POLICE at Aranos are investigating a case of fuel theft involving the town's chief executive officer Willem /Uirab.

The investigation was confirmed yesterday by Hardap police regional crime coordinator, deputy commissioner Eric Clay.

Clay said the police were gathering evidence from witnesses around allegations that /Uirab stole diesel from the town council.

"Police still need to take a statement from a key witness who spotted the CEO allegedly stealing diesel from council," he said.

Clay said the police investigation against the CEO was launched after Aranos council chairperson Elden Kuhanga filed a case of theft against him.

/Uirab yesterday said he was not aware of the police investigation, and declined to comment further.
