Huma Abedin Comforting Weinstein’s Wife In Wake Of His Scandal

Harvey Weinstein’s wife is reportedly finding comfort in another woman who split from her husband after disturbing allegations drove them apart.

Georgina Chapman, who announced she was leaving Weinstein on Tuesday, apparently reached out to Huma Abedin to deal with the countless allegations that have come out against her husband, according to Page Six. Abedin recently had to deal with a similar situation when her soon-to-be ex-husband Anthony Weiner was exposed for sexting an underage woman.

Chapman and Hillary Clinton’s top aide have known each other for years due to the ties between Weinstein and the former presidential candidate. A source close to Chapman told Page Six that she reached out to Abedin, hoping that she would be able to help her cope with the situation, given her own experience with Weiner. “One of the people Georgina has reached out to is Huma, who has been through this kind of scandal and media storm, and survived with her dignity intact. They are both mothers, they have both been in a situation where their husbands turned out to be a different person than the man they thought they knew,” the source revealed.

Though Chapman and Abedin met through the Weinstein and Clinton connection, the two have remained in touch over the years. According to Page Six, Chapman reached out to Abedin as well as several crisis advisers over the weekend before she announced she’d be leaving her husband.

“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions,” Chapman said in a statement on Tuesday. “I have chosen to leave my husband.”

“Over the last week, there has been a lot of pain for my family that I take responsibility for. I sat down with my wife Georgina, who I love more than anything, and we discussed what was best for our family,” Weinstein said in response on Wednesday. “We discussed the possibility of a separation and I encouraged her to do what was in her heart. In the end, she made the decision to separate.”

“I understand, I love her and I love our children and hopefully, when I am better, I will be in their lives again,” he continued. “I support her decision, I am in counseling and perhaps, when I am better, we can rebuild.”
